Meet Carlos Alexander
Born and raised in Washington, DC, I was always captivated by the city's landscapes and the interaction of people and tourists in the downtown area. I graduated in 1992 and joined the military. That decision expanded my view of the world and people. It wasn't until I was deployed to Africa that my interest in photography was born.
The beauty of the sky coupled with the rolling hills and vast plains was magnificent. Words could not describe my feelings gazing upon what was created millions of years before me. The creations and perfect architecture of the landscapes were indescribable. The only way I could share what I felt and saw with others was to take a photo.
It was more than just capturing the visual aspect, I wanted to capture a feeling as well. When I envision something for a photograph, it is the feeling you get after seeing my work that I anticipate capturing. It is that emotion that I want to capture, so when you see my work you also feel something.
As I progressed in rank within the military and my deployments increased, I put my interest of photography on hold and made my primary focus the mission and my Soldiers. It wasn't until after I retired 24 years later that the camera and my passion reunited to share with the world my view through the lens. This became the start of On Point Photos.
